Bridge Multimedia partnered with WNET and the U.S. Dept. of Education to produce the accessible video game, Cyberchase: Duck Dash, which received a 2022 Best User Experience Webby Award from the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences. The Webbys recognize digital excellence and are often referred to as “the Oscars of the Internet.”
Duck Dash, a STEM video game based on the wildly popular Cyberchase franchise, was the culmination of a deep collaboration between WNET-Thirteen, PBS KIDS, Bridge and Relish Studios. Dr. Wendy Sapp, Bridge’s Senior Project Director said,
“We playtested the game with children with disabilities and worked with Relish Studios, who wrote the game’s code, to ensure that Duck Dash specifically incorporated comprehensive features for children with physical and cognitive impairments. Bridge’s goal is to show digital developers how to utilize principles of Universal Design to help make the gaming industry more accessible to the 61 million Americans with a disability.”
It’s more fun when everyone plays, so ping Matt Kaplowitz for more information about making gaming and game-based training fully accessible!
