About Us

Bridge Multimedia is a New York City-based social enterprise dedicated to advancing all facets of universal access for educational, entertainment, corporate and governmental applications. Bridge provides accessible media services, ADA compliance and workforce solutions designed to make the 21st century media landscape equally inclusive for all people.

The Bridge Team includes specialists in Child Development, Cognition, Neurology, Special Education, Linguistics, Orientation and Mobility, and Accessible Digital Media Production.

Bridge’s mission is to forward the empowerment of individuals with disabilities and cognitive differences from childhood through maturity.

 

Meet Our Executive Team

Matthew Kaplowitz — CEO and Chief Creative Officer:

Matt is President and Director of Technology and Innovation for Bridge Multimedia, the largest producer of audio description for network and cable TV in the United States. Matt is an Emmy, Peabody, and Grammy Award-winning producer, composer, and sound designer, as well as an assistive listening systems engineer and A/V systems integration specialist for ADA-compliant installations for public spaces. Matt served as a member of U.S. State Department’s delegation representing the U.S. in establishing technical global standards for high definition television. Matt also served on the U.S. Access Board’s 508 Standards and the Telecommunications Act Guidelines Subcommittee for Software, Web, and Content. Matt currently serves on the Executive Board of Chimes International, a disability services and behavioral health organization that serves more than 20,000 people with disabilities.

Wendy Sapp, Ph.D. — Senior Project Director and Content Literacy Specialist:

In addition to directing Bridge’s five-year U.S. Department of Education audio description project and the Transmedia and Accessible Educational Gaming template, Dr. Sapp served as Chief Researcher for Bridge’s major initiatives including: The Universal eLearner: An Online Educational Multimedia Platform for Students with Disabilities, MySchoolDayOnline, and Somebody’s Jumping on the Floor: Incorporating Music into Orientation & Mobility for Preschoolers with Visual Impairments. Dr. Sapp has conducted multiple research projects into educational issues relating to children with visual impairments and has published and presented extensively on this topic. Recent research includes Braille literacy, low vision literacy, tactual graphic literacy, and assistive technology.

Linda Kahn — Director of Programming Operations:

Linda Kahn is Liaison to Programmers for the Bridge Multimedia/U.S. Department of Education Television Access project and Accessible Television Portal project. Ms. Kahn is also President of Linda Kahn Media LLC, a global consulting firm dedicated to forging strategic business and creative partnerships in all aspects of children’s media and entertainment for general audiences. Formerly Senior Vice President of International TV Sales & Merchandising for Scholastic Media, Kahn established Scholastic Media’s presence in the highly competitive global market. As Senior Vice President of Nickelodeon’s International Program Sales, she initiated and built Nickelodeon’s television syndication and format sales worldwide and was instrumental in the successful launch of Nick at Nite. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of BAFTA New York. She is also a past- President of New York Women in Film & Television.

John Cavanagh – Chief Innovation Officer and Director of Corporate Accessibility

In addition to developing and promoting special projects for Bridge Multimedia, John is responsible for investigation, analysis, and dissemination of the latest social, technical, and legal developments regarding accessibility and its implementation. He also drives expansion initiatives, delivers company presentations, and develops promotional content. John writes much of Bridge’s accessible multimedia content, including corporate and educational audio description scripts, and alternative text. He has produced e-learning scripts for numerous websites, training programs, and video games. He conceived and wrote for Bridge’s C-CAL app, a game-based interactive training tool to foster workplace skills for individuals with disabilities. John has been with Bridge Multimedia since the company’s inception.
