Audio Description Expands the Reach of International Emmy Award-Winning Film
Bridge Multimedia produced audio description, with partial funding by the U.S. Department of Education, for Buffy Sainte-Marie: Carry It On which received an International Emmy Award in the Arts Programming category. The award was presented by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences on November 20th in New York. The film celebrates the musical legacy of folk singer Buffy Sainte-Marie with an emphasis on the struggles of female artists and entertainers in the mid 20th century. The film aired on American Masters which is produced by THIRTEEN PRODUCTIONS LLC for WNET and broadcast nationally on PBS stations.
Bridge has created audio description for numerous past episodes of American Masters, including films about Helen Keller, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Protactile communication, and two short films about Indigenous artists, broadcast for Native American Heritage Month which occurs annually during November. To ensure that this audio description reflected the vibrancy of Native American culture and creativity, Bridge commissioned two Native American audio description narrators, who brought their Indigenous experience and cultural vocabulary to their audio description performances.
Bridge Multimedia is proud to have produced audio description for Buffy Sainte-Marie: Carry It On and is equally thrilled that a greater number of people will have access to this International Emmy Award winning film thanks to our work with the U.S. Department of Education, OSEP and WNET.
