Bridge Multimedia celebrates National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) with an instructive video titled The Art of Audio Description: A Narrator’s Primer. This short tutorial was designed for audio description narrators and individuals looking to enter the specialized field of audio description (AD). Thomas Reid, prominent description writer, narrator, and podcaster, is the video’s host. Throughout the program, Thomas shares his first-hand insight and experience gained from working as a blind audio describer.
The Art of Audio Description explores useful topics, such as: writing AD from a consumer’s perspective, narration tips, elements that enhance the AD experience, tips for recording in a home studio, describing race and ethnicity in description, the future of AD, and more. According to Bridge CEO, Matt Kaplowitz, “The audio description field offers employment opportunities for individuals who are blind or visually impaired. Bridge wanted our tutorial video to speak to that. Thomas Reid, an important voice in the audio description community, was the perfect person to help with this outreach effort– especially during NDEAM.”
Bridge Multimedia hopes this video is useful to people looking to become audio describers, people currently working as audio describers, and people who are just interested in learning more about accessible multimedia. Happy NDEAM, everyone!
