The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences awarded two prestigious “Webby” honors to Railway Hero, the groundbreaking accessible video game developed by WNET, PBS KIDS, and Bridge Multimedia, and built by Sudden Industries, with funding support from U.S. Dept of Education’s Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP).
Railway Hero won Best Game – Family & Kids and Best Game – User Experience. The Webby Awards, hailed as “the internet’s highest honor” by The New York Times, are judged by over two thousand industry experts and technology innovators. In addition to the Webbys, Railway Hero also received two Gold Medals in the 2019 International Serious Play Awards (K-12 Education competition).
Railway Hero, available for free on the PBS Kids website, has already been played over two million times. Such an overwhelmingly positive response is an honor for everyone involved in this accessibility collaboration!
