New AI-Based Accessibility Products Introduced at ATIA

Bridge Multimedia’s Senior Project Director, Dr. Wendy Sapp, represented Bridge at the annual Assistive Technology Industry Association (ATIA) conference in Orlando. She delivered a well-received presentation entitled, Building Capacity for Creating Accessible Media through Artificial Intelligence. The session focused on Bridge’s WISER (Writing Improves Skills for Early Reading) products currently in development. These tools utilize AI to increase the capacity for producing accessibility by streamlining the process of creating accessible media and enhancing the quality of accessibility. 

The session drew directly on expertise and infrastructure built through OSEP’s technology and media accessibility initiatives. Though Bridge’s AI tools, such as WISER, plAIn Language, and Transcript Genie, are supported through separate funding, they grow out of the research agenda, partnerships, and advisory work made possible by OSEP’s earlier support. At ATIA, Dr. Sapp focused on how those foundations now inform practical AI use for accessible media, including work with Part D grantees and other national partners. Bridge and OSEP’s combined commitment to accessibility were a perfect fit for the highly-esteemed ATIA conference.

ATIA’s mission is to serve as the shared voice of the assistive technology industry so that the highest quality products and services are delivered to individuals with disabilities. For over 25 years the ATIA conference has been a prominent community-building and informative event for the disability community, assistive technology leaders, teachers, parents, caregivers, and more. Bridge is proud to have been part of this event.
