Centennial Spotlight: VISIONS Older Adult Center
Bridge Multimedia was thrilled to produce audio description for Centennial Spotlight: VISIONS Older Adult Center. This video highlights the VISIONS Center on Aging (located in Chelsea, NYC) which provides programming tailored to older adults experiencing vision loss. The video featured one of Bridge’s most talented audio describers, Thomas Reid, a blind narrator and podcaster. The accessibility was produced by Ruth Acevedo, Bridge’s Senior Project Manager who said,
“We’re always excited for the opportunity to deliver accessibility to disability organizations. Bridge has worked on projects with VISIONS before and we’re looking forward to more successful collaborations in the future.”
VISIONS Older Adult Center was showcased at a July 21st symposium by the NYC Department for the Aging. The event, held in celebration of Disability Pride Month, brought government officials and disability advocates together to learn more about how older adults can remain involved in their communities through expanded caregiver programs, health and wellness initiatives, and job training & placement services. Featured speakers included:
- Dr. Lisa Scott McKenzie, Commissioner, NYC Department for the Aging
- Nisha Agarwal, Commissioner, Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities
- Molly Eagan, CEO, VISIONS/Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired
VISIONS is a nonprofit social service and vision rehabilitation organization, celebrating their 100th anniversary this year. Headquartered in NYC, the organization serves thousands of participants across the Greater New York Metropolitan Area. According to Ryan Melendez, Director of Marketing and Communications for VISIONS, the purpose of the symposium was to
“strengthen partnerships, and advance conversations that support aging in place for all New Yorkers. …To help build a city where every person can age with dignity, independence, and opportunity.”
Bridge Multimedia wholeheartedly shares this conviction and is delighted to support VISIONS to this effect.
Happy Disability Pride Month from Matt Kaplowitz & the Bridge Team!
