The curtain rises on accessibility…
Bridge Multimedia was honored to provide live audio description for the 78th annual Tony Awards, which recognize excellence in Broadway theater. The show, hosted by Cynthia Erivo, was broadcast live from Radio City Music Hall in New York City on Sunday, June 8 on the CBS Television Network – and streamed on Paramount Plus and Pluto TV.
The excitement of the Tonys (and live theater) would be indescribable were it not for the talents of professional live audio describers. Bridge CEO Matt Kaplowitz said, “For a gala event like the Tonys, we knew that only ‘A-listers’ would do. Cue Joe Amodio and Allyson Johnson, both with impressive credits in live and scripted TV and film.” Mr. Amodio said, “There is a magic to live events that’s similar to live description. They’re both expressive, spontaneous, and engaging.” Ms. Johnson added, “Audio description belongs on Broadway – and on the Tony Awards.”
According to the Tony Awards website, “The Tonys is the night America watches Broadway.” Bridge was proud to help make this iconic program available to an even greater audience through live audio description.
